Let me first thank you for visiting my page known as NewWitness. There are few mediums able to reach, nourish and unite humankind like music. One could even listen to music sung in a foreign language and still be somehow moved; whether by musical arrangement, style or wonder. At the risk of belaboring the issue: “music is indeed universal.” While NewWitness will have a concentration in the world of inspirational and or gospel music, I look forward to sharing the full musical spectrum the world has to offer.
The Purpose
Secondly, for those who are interested in working with me musically, I invite you to view my biography to get a better sense of where my musical journey has led me. Perhaps its contents may further reveal where I’m headed. Nevertheless, I look forward to exploring the far reaches of the musical realm with those who fancy themselves “out of the box” in terms of their creativity. I believe that there will always be room for the classic and traditional, but only the innovative can take us to new heights in musical invention. It is an expedition with no end for those whose constitution will not allow them to stop seeking. I am pleased to join my colleagues in the expedition.
The Journey begins…
Finally, my musical journey began in my family’s garage in the dead of winter, at the tender age of eight. My dad, a “collector-of-sorts,” had been gifted an old upright piano which he brought home and placed therein. That winter I could be found (or perhaps not found) picking at the tarnished ivory keys of this musical monstrosity, fully-cloaked and fully-gloved in my private subfreezing study! My hunger to learn more was further kindled by achieving reasonable adeptness at my first song, the popular Beatles hit: “Yesterday.” I fear I may have dated myself by sharing that point!
